  3. Dimming

    Dimming is the project of Swedish musician and producer Linn Osterberg who was born in 1989 on the Swedish west coast. Seamlessly moving between ethereal electronics and largely instrumental and ambient work, Dimming’s slow-burning and atmospheric compositions are equally haunting and intimate.

  5. Dan Olsson + Jonas Odhner

    We are Dan Olsson and Jonas Odhner from Gothenburg. When making our music, we mix electronic and acoustic instruments, old and new. We get inspiration from working with different textures to create new soundscapes, but also enjoy exploring harmonies. Our music is often described as cinematic, dreamlike and somewhat ambivalent.
    We run a non-commercial studio and a label called Half-Night.

  7. Aija Sillén

    Aija Sillén is an artist and musician who has studied composition at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg. By building her own sound objects and working with aleatoric techniques, she tries to blur the lines between composition, sound art and improvisation. More or less hidden narratives often reside in the music, usually fictitious but rooted in reality. In most cases these revolve around social hierarchies, communication and community.

    My name is Mo, I am a trans/queer artist composer, activist, cellist and vocalist based in Gothenburg. Abstract painting and sculpture, contemporary classical/experimental electronic music are my primary modes of expression.   11. Trans_ink

    Trans_ink is an alias of Marko Milicevic, curator of the Live Soundtrack event, who makes night-time ambient music by creating loops of small, acoustic instruments, voice and choir samples, and playing synth tones who are awashed in the sea of delay and reverb.

  15. Michael Lyons – Parts (Japan, 2023, 5’)


    This camera-less silent film examines parts and wholes. Electronic components were photogrammed on 16mm print stock. Displacements in time and space assemble the parts into an abstract dynamic gestalt.

  17. Marianna Milhorat – Sky Room (US, 2017. 6’)


    Someone is missing. Plants grow, but at what cost? Technology threatens and seduces as humans attempt to solve a mystery through telepathy and mirrors. Stainless steel and broken glass strewn about an intergalactic discotheque. Commissioned by the Chicago Film Archives, with footage and sound from the archive chopped, manipulated and arpeggiated into a fertile mix of anthem and narrative.

  19. Gavin Hipkins - A Place in Cosmos (New Zealand, 2020, 10’)


    Located in rural Aotearoa New Zealand, a full-scale concrete adaptation of Stonehenge is an active observatory and portal to other worlds. Shot on Super 8mm, this end-of-time silent film navigates science fiction tropes through spatial circularity and cosmic rhythms.

  21. Jiayi Chen - Four Dances for Three Couples (US, 2021, 12’)


    Commissioned by the Chicago Film Archives, Four Dances for Three Couples repurposes found footages from educational and instructional films, news reels and home movies, to examine image-making mechanisms, reframe female bodies, bring minute surface details from the analog medium and unseen archiving labor to light, and capture a sense of longing and waiting amid a time of uncertainty.

  23. Dominic Angerame - Luminae (US, 2022, 3’)


    For years I had been shooting with an iris attached to my lens creating a circle. The sun seemed to be a natural progression of the circle, especially its revolutions. The film is an accession into the heavens. This film was magically created from the soul of my spirit. The music was also magic that it glides the imagery into its many manifestations. This film is definitely the result of the magic of cinema capturing a spirit of space that would make George Melies cry in wonder.

    In this lonely contemplation of a past summer, the ancient promontory becomes a parenthetical projection of frantic lines and alternating impressions.

  27. Wen Pey Lim - LDN 51.5072N 0.1276W (Malaysia, 2022, 4’)


    LDN 51.5072N 0.1276W examines the influence of the Industrial Revolution via the relics from architecture in London, reflecting the effects technology has had on transforming traditional notions of work, community, and identity.

  29. Alexander Fingrudt - Press Pound to Connect (US, 2019, 3’)


    This film was hand processed, shot on 16mm film, and created using a masking technique and appropriated images. The nine equal parts reference the Pound Symbol on a telephone keypad. Here, it is used as a symbol for connection. We are connected to more than what is immediately around ourselves: to each other, the planet, and the farthest galaxies. What distant things are having an effect on us and what are we non-visibly affecting? The similarities between these connections are represented through overlapping images. It shows a change in perspective, going from the individual singular self, to a view where there is no divide between self and other. It brings us to a cosmic, all-encompassing view, divided in space and tied together through telephone wire.
